Reporting naff roadworks

There are some ongoing roadworks near me. The signage is awful and they don't lift them after work is completed. I'm feeling very Victor Meldrew this morning, so I wish to report them.

Main problems:
Not all existing 50 signs covered.
Temporary traffic light signs left. No traffic lights.
Road narrows signs. Road doesn't narrow.
All signage left after work completes. No obstructions.

Shouldn't they lift restrictions after work these days?

Where's the best place to complain and get something done about it?

It depends on the type of road. If it's a trunk road or motorway, then the Highways Agency (asuming you're in England) are ultimately responsible, although the individual tasks are delegated to network management companies for each area. I am afraid I don't know who that would be (although I could find out if you had a location in mind).

If it's not a trunk road (and that could still include some A-roads) then the local council are the responsible roads authority. There isn't really a "higher power" - the highways agency will not be interested in what happens on "local" routes.

It's the A16 between Deeping and Hop Pole (honest, there is a place with that name)!
