Motor Movers for caravans

Purchased a used 'Motor Mover' off fleabay, tested and it worked fine, that is until I fitted it onto my caravan. It made real hard work of moving my little vintage two berth, admit we do have a slight slope on our drive but I mean slight slope and I expected the mover to easily cope. It didn't soon blue smoke was puffing out of the box of mechanical/electrical gubbins, and then nothing.
Another waste of time and money, perhaps I should have purchased a brand new example?

Or learn to reverse? Tempting fate, but I've never really seen the point....
