weekend toy......
Discussion
So for a while I've been thinking about this. I bought a new shape BMW M6 last year. I think it’s great and I like the fact it’s rare and you don’t see many of them. Apart from the depreciation, I don’t think I’d change anything about it. However, it’s a massive car and struggles to fit in car park spaces easily, so I realised I wanted a local motoring/runabout car and bought an Abarth 500. The Abarth is a fab fun car and really practical (although obviously the boot is not massive) and much more fun to drive than the M6.....despite the power difference.
Now obviously the ‘man maths’ is convincing myself that if I had a weekend fun car then that would be a perfect car combo. I’m thinking a Caterham R300/R400, but open to suggestions (including other derivatives of Caterham). I used to ride motorbikes and miss that a bit, which is why I guess the Caterham appeals, but I'm probably not going to take it on a track more than once a year. Whatever I buy it has to be fun to drive (and to me that means quick and good handling), so traditional classic cars are out. Modern classic cars such as a 993 are appealing, but I think the world has gone crazy with these modern classics at the moment and for me at least, you don’t get enough car for your money, for where they are today. So, budget up to £30K, thoughts..……..
