Looking for a reliable hot hatch that sounds good, and is fairly reliable.

I have had the mk4 and mk5, chains were stretched on the mk4 tho :/ I would consider a mk5 again but there not that fast

If you want a hot hatch that genuinely sounds good, has to be golf r32 mk5 or 130i imo, guess the focus st could join that group but the seating position feels too high in that car. The rest are going to be 2.0t's which don't genuinely sound nice unless modifications come into it.

Volvo C30 T5 - Same 5 cylinder warble as the Focus ST. Think the handling is more comfort biased than sporty so maybe doesn't quite fit the hot hatch description.

Alfa 147 GTA - Might be reliable if you get lucky.

Impreza WRX - Sound can be anything from bland to full on 'bob hoskins going mental in a dustbin' depending on what exhaust is on it.

I have had a lot of performance cars and many problems :/ be nice to get something reliable and fast. I would consider the 130i but I am 6ft 4 so maybe its to cramped and the looks I am not sure on. I am considering a astra vxr burg and fitting a diff. I have had a s3 with the same engine as the edition 30 and its sounds so boring.

At the risk of sounding...like an idiot...

civic Type R, Ep3? SHould be able to pick up a very tidy example for your money. I dare say you can get a very tidy example for less than your max budget with room to spare for insurance, tax, service

Golf Ed30
Mazda 3 MPS
Audi S3

MPS is the best sounding of the three but not as good as the Focus ST. Better engine though, IMO.

It's not a hot hatch, but with 10K I personally would be looking towards a VW Sirocco smile

I'm 5, 11"

Doubt any hatch is really 'roomy' but I have no complaints. Besides, a straight six and RWD makes up for such compromises!
