Venture Cup 2014

Having been marginally involved with the prologue event last year (safety boat) I have been keeping tabs on how this years event will pan out.
I did hear through the grapevine that there were difficulties with the RYA in endorsing the event.
Recently I read the following statement from the RYA:
"It is with extreme disappointment that the RYA has found itself in the unfortunate position of having to inform the organisers of the Venture Offshore Cup Ltd and the Union Internationale Mononautique (UIM) that, as the appointed national authority for this event, we are no longer in a position to approve or host this event."
I was wondering is it down to poor organising from the Venture boys or RYA causing more problems and again showing lack of support for powerboat racing?
Seems a shame though as if this event is not endorsed it will have to run as a poker run or something? and then surely if any of the racers compete will this mean they could face bans from official racing events?
The Venture Cup lot are business as usual and their web pages and facebook info seems to be ignoring the RYA pulling out....

I'll catch up with you after the weekend and fill you in more but the state of play publically is that VC as a race from this country won't happen now. They have been trying to gain approval via Belgium to run as a 'challenge' but nothing is finally agreed at the moment to my knowledge.
Without approval of the national body for a race (for reasons I won't go into here) then PLA will obviously not grant dispensation for a start in the Thames.
Understandably the team is a little bit in denial and also trying to salvage something, but I think at best we will see a few boats in St Kats and a small flotilla past Southend Pier heading to Belgium.
If we were to turn up with the support boats as we did last year we would outnumber the field considerably.
Lots of fallouts to come, loss of confidence, damage to sport, legal threats blah blah blah as you can imagine!
Concentrating my efforts now on the 50th anniversary of Class 3 racing at Southend 26/27th July so at least we get something special for Southend to pay back their support for the Prologue and VC. I will be starting a thread on this when the time comes.

My poor labrador on board was somewhat terrorised and wouldn't come out of the shower tray for a couple of hours!
And the woman from environmental health gave me the filthiest of looks when she realised I had the end of her sound meter firmly clenched in my hand!
