Put this here to get more traffic......

My mondeo nav (blaupunkt nx) doesn't remember anything after being powered down for more than about 5 mins.
So each time I have to re-enter country and other normally saved settings. I'm not alone in this,it's a common fault on these units but repair seems to cost a fortune without saying what's being done.
I'm wondering if any electronic nerds know how these units would normally remember settings ? Would there be a small internal battery that's giving up? Or similar ?

Just thought it might be a simple thing to sort with the right know how .

Sounds like its not getting the permanent live feed from the battery, perhaps an internal to the unit fuse has gone.

Either as above or a battery/capacitor to store the NVM has gone.

I was thinking maybe capacitor but would they normally keep info saved for days?
If I go in a shop for example it's ok but longer than 10 mins and I have to start over.
It's not a huge deal but annoying because all previous destinations are lost so I can't just press 'home' etc.
