2014 Felt Z5

Hi all,

I want a new full Carbon road bike that would be capable of doing 100 mile+ rides. i have narrowed it doen to a Felt Z5. Does anyone own one? what alternatives should I be looking at to narrow down the list before I go and arrange a test ride?

any bike is capable of 100 mile rides, it's you that has to pedal it!

There are dozens of alternatives but if you like the Z5, buy it, there are a few felt owners here have the Z series and say it's comfy.

Get a bike fitting first, then set a budget and chat with a decent LBS about your requirements, they may be able to recommend something that will fit well that you have not considered.

With the explosion of middle aged cycling and sportives there are literally dozens of 'relaxed' framed bikes on the market. I like Felt and have a 2010 F75 with 10,000+ faultless miles on it, so I would say the Z5 would be a good buy - but only if it fits!

I see you are somewhere in Oxfordshire, if it is not too far I would recommend popping along to AW Cycles in Caversham and having a chat with Rikki in the road bike dept, he lives, sleeps, eats and drinks bikes and has a real passion for the sport, what he does not know is simply not worth knowing!

I wanted to buy a De Rosa from AW last year but he would not sell it to me as it simply would not fit, ended up with a Colnago that fits like a glove and puts a smile on my face everytime I sit on it!

Hi all,

Thanks for the relies so far, I am comfortable doing 100 mile + rides on my current bike. I am starting to do more long distance audax events, not looking to do sportives. May use new bike to do summer 200km Audax events have current bike for winter / long rides 200km+.

Will make time to go and see AW cycles as they are not too far away.
