Lens optimisation (Canon)

Could somebody simply explain Lens Peripheral Illumination & Chromatic Abberation Correction and how to get it to work. for a Canon 5DM3 but applicable for other Canons.

I've enabled it in the camera but only shoot RAW so presumably it's not affected. I recently took some images with a 24-70 2.8 L II lens and there is noticeable shading (vignetting) in the corners (viewed in RAW using DPP). I've loaded up all the appropriate lenses via EOS Utility for the camera, and within DPP loaded the 24-70 (there are a lot less lenses available).

Applying the lens correction within DPP doesn't seem to make much difference.

Yes I have Lightroom available and should load it but I'm familiar with DPP and at this stage want to keep things simple, getting used to the 5D is enough.

Here is an article that covers things for a T4i/650D. The last couple of paragraphs of the Kit Lens Test results are probably the most useful.

Basically for a jpg output you can use the in-camera data and pre-bake it.

For RAW you apply the values, if you choose to do so, from the DPP software or use the equivalent tools in your RAW converter of choice (if it offers such a facility.)
