Aaaaargh
Champions League final tonight, Monaco GP tomorrow
No TV!!!!!
Aaaaargh
Aaaaargh

Sorry for the hysteria, my SKY HD box is dead and I need some bodging guidance please

It died in the heavy rain overnight Thurs/Fri but didnt come back to life last night when I got home from work
There was an error message saying "no satellite signal received" or something like that

Man bodging revealed a similar picture to this which I have just taken now:

Spurred on by this I found that the cable feed below the dish had been snagged by a rose and over the years one of them had been pulled a long way with a LOT of tension putting traction on the run

I snipped the rose and released the tension and to my relief last night the box came back to life

Today unfortunately its gone again, obviously there is no longer any tension but it has rained heroically all day

Thoughts are currently:

1) poor connection at LNB allowing water to get in
2) temporary release of tension has somehow stopped working and needs to be firmly reattached
3) dish direction was pulled out of line with my gardening last night - although it worked fine all evening

Thoughts welcome
Naturally the dish is miles up and out of reach on the side of the house

Final question is how much would an installer likely charge in Yorkshire for however long it takes up a ladder to fix it

Many thanks

I think it's beyond salvageable by your hand this evening. Got Sky Go on a laptop? Connect to TV via HDMI, job jobbed.

Sounds like water may be getting into the satellite cable that does from the box to the dish. Try getting some new cable and plugging it in to see how it works. If it works ok then replace the old cable with the new one and make sure it is sealed nicely at the lnb.
