Plenum/Trumpet Base sealant

Brought some Alloy Trumpets of Tim of ACT and and plenum with enlarged throttle. :cheers: TIM

Was wondering what sealant any of you would recommend to use below the Base and the Plenum.

Does it have to be any special high temp stuff or anti petrol rotting stuff .

And mine's heat resistant up to 372 centigrade. Even with the vulcano temps under a Grifs bonnet this should be enough.

Nearly forgot to mention that you have to take care with (to much of) the stuf on the plenum base, before you know it there's no flow left.

If you feel the need to splash out on really top notch stuff then get some anerobic sealer from loctite. Saab use it but it's expensive at £30 for a tube.

If you expect to have the plenum apart on a frequent basis then as Tim suggests, silicone is the better option cost wise.

Blue Hylomar is what I use - its non-setting so you dont get bits dropping off into oilways etc. if you overdue it like silicon sealant.

Automotive sealant is best , acetoxy silicone £8 a tube.
A tip, after you've tightened down the trumpet base look down the bores to make sure you haven't got big blobs of sealant in the tracts, if you have wipe of before it sets with something like a round stick/screwdriver with a rag wrapped around it.
