Can't say I'm surprised as I think he never wanted to promote 7s just wanted a name for his F1 team after him he failed to get Lotus.
I should add that it's the whole group that I imagine he's selling.

I don't think anyone will be surprised. These people tend to have the attention span of a gnat. The F1 and gp2 teams will dissappear/re brand. The Cars will hopefully continue as they are still popular. As I've posted elsewhere I just hope it doesn't fall into the hands of a billionaire's son with no idea whatsoever.

I'd be surprised if the F1 team remained connected in any way to the road car business. On it's own the car business is (I assume) profitable. They've got the classic problem of expanding into doing anything other than the 7 - I'm not sure why people persistently feel the need to try?

TF has found that jogging around the back of the F1 circus is a sure way to cost him/anyone a small fortune.

I have no idea about Caterham technology or the composites business. Do they do anything beyond support the cars and F1 team?

I expect it'll be split up and sold off.

Fingers crossed for all the staff.

Little surprise but its a shame too. As a Lotus owner and enthusiast its even less suprising. Lotus has hugley greater resources than Caterham and a far far stronger brand name and yet even have struggled seemlingly forever to break into the big time (I'm not including F1 here as its a totally different environment). With often hundreds of millions of pounds Lotus hasn't been able to do it and so Caterham, really only known for the 7, had a much greater challenge that TF under estimated. Even the best business people in the world make mistakes. I do hope that they find a new owner quickly and jobs are secured.

"The asking price is reportedly 350 million ($590m), though it's uncertain whether he will sell the F1 team independently of the automotive department - See more at: http://www.f1times.co.uk/news/display/08914#sthash...

OK so 347m for the F1 team and 3m for Caterham cars. Hardly a dealbreaker if you don't want all of it.

According to Pitpass, Caterham was one of the few teams to make a profit in 2011-12. (7M)

Hmm
F1 and premier league footie must the 2 biggest money pits that you could ever invest in -always going to end in tears trying to keep up with the big boys -in both sports
From what I've seen of QPR this season they are going to yoyo back to the Championship -they were very lucky to beat Derby in the playoffs . When Rednap gives effusive praise to the thug Joey Barton you just know it cant be right .

Well, I just hope they can sell off the cars business and F1 seperately, and that someone enthusiastic takes over ownership of Caterham Cars. Someone down to earth who can scrap the AeroSeven and Renault coupe and just get back to making Sevens, which is what Caterham do best.
