I freely admit to being a techno-tard..... Hence needing to ask a question that probably has a very simple answer.

Recently acquired a Samsung Smart TV, and have been trying to work out how to play music from my iPhone through it.

Even attaching the USB doesn't work.

Any ideas/help?

Wondered about something like that. Was kind of hoping that I'd be able to sort it without having to buy another piece of equipment though?

Why would you want sound to come out of the cr*p speakers on your tv?

By a cheap bluetooth speaker!

or buy a good speaker?

If you have a Hifi then why not just add a phono cable?

Fair point Rick.

The TV plays through a Soundshare Soundbar, which is great for us. Thought it might play through that, but can't find a way there either.

That's why I want it to play through the TV.

So if anyone has any ideas, I'd like to hear those.

I don't know how the Samsungs work but if there isn't a way of doing it, I have bought one of these for cheap music connectivity to my stereo - Belkin Bluetooth Receiver

It should plug into the back of the TV and is very easy to set up, there aren't even any buttons, plug and play at it's easiest!!

ETA - £30 in John lewis!!

I would have thought the soundbar would have bluetooth if you scroll through sources. Easiest way

There is a free app called Skifta on both iOS and Android. Allows you to stream any media from your phone/tablet to a DLNA TV/player.

I use it myself to play audio from my phone to my Samsung TV (which is hooked up to my AV receiver) and it works well.

Try 'Twonkybeam'. It works a treat for me. It allows me to stream 'YouTube' videos that aren't phone compatible too. (Switch to desktop view before beaming!) wink
