Image Editting (Ebay issues)

Hi All,
I just wondered if we had any photo/processing experts on here.
I have an issue with the majority of photographs for ebay I take whereby they look HORRIBLE on some devices (tablet/phone for example) but not on others.
It is not an issue that I see other people having so I am assuming it is something specific that I am doing in my editting of the photographs.
Firstly I take my photographs (generally in a lightbox) with a Nikon D3200. I then do some basic editting (Exposure, sharpness, contrast, brightness) on the RAW format using VIEWNX which is the nikon software.
Once that is complete I will then export it from the camera, open it in microsoft picture manager and crop it down to size - I may occasionally do further brightness/contrast editting here and also often need to compress the filesize as it is normally around 10mb at this point which is too big for the next 2 steps.
Once that is done, I then upload it to a website I use to remove the background so that it is pure white.
After that, I upload it to a website that watermarks it for me.
Finally it is then uploaded to my host as I self-host my images, unfortunately on some of my listings it will not allow me to self-host resulting in having to use the ebay host which normally compresses the photo so much it is unviewable.
I suspect that the amount of different programs which are adjusting the basic image are ultimately what is causing the "artifacting" of the images but wondered if anyone has some "good practice" for image editting.
