Where is best for a small most probably unsecured business loan if such a thing exists? Probably only talking £2k the business has potential and confirmed jobs but no property to put as security.

Overdraft?

If a director has a good credit rating, get a Virgin Balance Transfer card, transfer the balance to a current account then pump it into the company as a director loan.

My wife got a small business loan from Natwest who she banks with. Roughly the same amount you're after. The local business guy in the branch sorted it. No security or anything and it was a startup business.

Good to know. Thanks.

I doubt he has accredit card or big enough overdraft. Very often these start ups just need a couple if grand to aid cash flow.

Don't take this the wrong way but I'd imagine your wife to be easy on the eye.

That doesn't sound like standard practice at all. I would have had to jump through hoops just for a £300 OD facility.

If it *is* for a startup, then I would suggest the Start Up Loans programme is probably your best bet.

Business plan and other documentation required but they like to say yes and the loan is unsecured. And you can do interest only repayments for the first 12 months if you prefer.

ps application to approval is pretty quick

Ha!

We have both banked with NW for a long time so they see all income and outgoings, which probably helped.
