Me again hoping for yet more expert and friendly advice so far that has been great thanks chaps, esp Gadge! Am now turning attentions to the cosmetic & wish to get drivers seat repaired as it is split, a firm locally has said on phone they can do it & put new foam & webbing in.(I don't want them totally recovered as rest of seat is ok in a nice gold soft vinyl & the passenger seat is unmarked & undamaged).

My question really is how do you get the seat out as notice under car 4 bolts that may relate to seat up/ fwd mechanism do I need to undo these as i don't want to damage the grp ....is there a way of getting seat out less runner frame so to speak from inside the car (like i can and did in my mgbgt a cple of yrs back even if was real effort to line up properly & put back )?

Hi Chris,

Here is how the set-up is on mine; 4 bolts in the runners, each secured with a lock-nut, 2 wooden sleepers under the lenght of the runners, with holes to take the locking nuts, large spacer on each bolt, with nut (under the car)

Mine came off easily, but they had been applied with waxoil............

Getting the seats of the runners in situ is nigh impossible due to restricted space

Regarding the foam bolsters; AV has/had some in stock, worth a call !

I'll second what Frank said.

Pretty easy to get out unless things have seized up - which is possible after being stood for 20 years...

I didn't bother with unscrewing the bolts, I just cut the heads of with an angle grinder
