Not often I start a thread but what on earth is going on at the moment with the 997 GT3 market? It seems that unless its got leather seats the value is bubbling up on a daily basis. I see JZM appear to be leading the way with price setting (apart from the viper green car on sale privately) but it looks like a sub 10k mile RS goes up about £10k a month and then there is the 4.0ltr at multiples of £10k a month.

I get that there are a few 991 GT3 owners without a toy to use at the moment but can this really be the reason for the price hike?

Interested in the views on such a price hike and is it to stay or is the bubble about to burst?

I'm not sure about £10k per month - by my reckoning since I bought my 997.2 GT3 RS last September I've 'made' about £3k per month - but I'm not ready to cash in (so have actually ‘made’ nothing); I've every intention of keeping it for a while…

This is the issue, those that have the cars are hanging on to them and so it takes more and more exceptional offers to tempt them away - the 991 GT3 is of no interest to me and so I won't be trading against it either.

Supply and Demand – it’s a simple as that – coupled of course with low interest rates etc…

I recently toyed with the idea of buying a Lotus Exige V6 Cup and ‘laying up’ the RS to appreciate, but I just can’t do it – I just want to drive it; life really is too short!

I did mention leather being a critical factor. Take the leather out and its worth a fortune!

Somewhere between this http://www.pistonheads.com/news/default.asp?storyI... and the 991 thermal issue it all went right/wrong depending on your situation.

Very desirable item, restricted supply, more buyers than sellers. Could be anything, happens to be a very fine range of cars.

Agreed. I know it's not the best spec but still has the magic motor out back + manual so still a great car for a decent price (after all you cant really see the colour when youre sat in it biggrin )...

Where GT3RS prices are concerned the world has gone truly bonkers - been watching prices closely for months and they appear to have made fearsome gains - especially of late . Where will all this end ? Was in the market but sheeeesh - I'm out !

Bite the bullet, they are only around their original rrp and imho if you want a car for keeps then you will not regret it, nothing else comes close for the money, value for money they most certainly are, would not swap mine for 2 991 turbo s. In USA and ROW it's the same story.

Did someone really pay nearly a quater of a million for a RS4.0??? Wowza!

Surely the reason for these prices is the lack of a manual version of the new GT3?

IMO a GT3 'comfort' spec is a bit too mainstream to justify a premium price.

Fine if you want a car to use everyday - but in the current climate of hysterical pricing, then a GT3 needs to stand out as a bit 'special' - bucket seats, pccbs and the right colour.

No someone paid 300 for a RHD car and there is another buyer looking for the right car with 350k

Assuming it's a Porsche Warranty is it not technically void once the car is resold through a dealership? I'm sure that's in the wording of the policy.
