Yokohama AD08

I'm interested to hear from anyone who has tried Yokohama AD08's (NOT R'S). More specifically, how do they compare with MPS2'S and MPSS?

I'm not concerned that they are not N rated, but given that they appear to be more costly than Michelin's, are they any better, or indeed as good?

I intend to use them primarily for track work so am interested in how they perform with regards to, grip, heat management, wear, etc.

I've run them previously on my 6.2 GT3 on road & track. They have loads of tread (8mm) & seem to wear very well. I used them as my "I'm not sure if it will be wet or dry" trackday tyres & they performed well in both scenarios. They fall somewhere between PS2's & Cups, being ultimately less grippy than Cups in the dry but way better in the wet. They are much more heat-stable than PS2's but not as good as Cups. Dry grip doesn't fall off a cliff like the PS2 either. Comparing them to the MPSS, I'd say they are probably on a par overall, but as I've only got the MPSS on 19" rims, there's the change in size to take into account so not a direct comparison.

I currently have them on my 993 GT2 replica (road use only) & they performed magnificently on a 4,000 mile trip to Italy last year, including doing 120mph+ in pouring rain on the autobahn. One thing is that there is little warning when they aquaplane due to being unable to cope with the depth of water, unlike the PS2 which seems more communicative before it gives up the ghost.

Thanks for the very informative feedback.

I'm thinking that if PSS are as good as the Yokos and with them also being around £50 a corner cheaper, its an easy choice to make.

Agree with nxi20's comments (also on a 6.2 GT3).

One thing to add: I ran them at a biblically wet day at Goodwood and they just about coped with standing water at high speed (though my eyes were on stalks throughout).

An excellent all-rounder and I found them a lot cheaper than Cups.

don't do track well and don't do road well so not for me.

I have PSS and Dunlop Race maxx depending what I am doing on 2 sets of wheels.
