I was looking at Leven's pages and thought it would look good on a wedge .. it doesnt look that hard to machine, If I can get a CAD drawing of the aperture, I can get them CNC prototyped.

yet more work for me to speak to my mate smile

I can a CAD done although I prefer the current set up. I got vinyl on mine but I want to knock up a new gaiter for the gear shift and handbrake in leather very soon.

Before I got an interior for mine I had an MG chrome trim around the gearstick. Could have been a picture of mine you saw, only had it on for a couple of months though.

I had no interior to speak of. The centre console was a sheet of aluminium. I rounded the square hole, got a nice piece of suede as a gaiter and screwed the trim to the aluminium. Granted I wouldnt want to try it on the correct interior. I'll see if I can find a pic.

I'm thinking it would be in 2 pieces. The shines top bit with nice hex bolts around it and a bottom ring that would be the same shape .. Probably steel with holes to accept the bolts.
You would simply sandwich it together and it would tighten down forming a square 'ring' around the gearstick gator.

Another way would be just to have it as a top ring and have hex bolts pass through to nuts and washers secured underneath

A third way could be to use self tapping screws and just screw through the fibreglass that makes up the centre arm rest

roflroflrofl Do you reckon TVR used such a thing? It was hack, slash, grind, butcher. I bet no two are within quarter of an inch of each other...
