I'm just about to embark on a car restoration. The car - a 1970 Fiat 500 - is to be a surprise birthday present for Mrs Blib. I want to film the restoration as part of the present.

To that end, I thought to use my iphone's video, uploaded to photobucket. But, after a couple of practice attempts, its limitations became obvious.

So, I've decided to go for a proper video camera. One of those small, handheld things with a 'revolving' screen which will make it easier to see myself as I talk to camera. I don't want one of those ones that attach to car roll cages or cyclists' helmets (Go-Pro?).

It should be easy to upload the results to a computer.

My budget is £150.

What do you suggest?

Thanks. smile

For what you want and if you can work in a bright room, I'd suggest saving your cash and get something cheap. Something like:

http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/1... for £30

Yes it will be rubbish in low light and the zoom is digital not optical, but if you can work with a bright room and with it on a tripod I'm sure it'll work for what you want.

I've used my iPhone, GoPro or compact cameras for video, so have no idea of the camcorder market...

That's basically what I bought after the overwhelming response to the thread. A £29.95 deal on eBay. smile

hehe Yes sadly anything with Vivitar on it is fairly guaranteed to be crap. And to think they were once the top independent lens maker.

Anyone who has seen my efforts on the "Shard" thread over the years will appreciate that my talent easily compensates for the crapiness of my photographic equipment. I fully expect the results to be spectacular. yes

Yes but that was in 1970.

Is anything that was built in 1970 any good, eh????

Early 80s to be fair.

Apollo moon rockets were built c.1970 and have yet to be surpassed.

How about buying a good one, smashing it up and then playing the film backwards...?
