Has anyone ever setup a satellite dish to have Eurosport or any other channels on during the race/weekend?

Thanks fella,

Got a 60cm dish and a sky HD box (with subscription)so should get 28.2 from france!

If I remember correctly in 2012 one tent was showing SKY premier movies one night!

I'm doing the same, taking a box and Sky viewing card, a bit easier, and better, than trying to get the Free channel

Make sure you have a good satellite finder, the one supplied with my kit was poor. And I could not set it up at all. Getting a good one for £8 from Amazon allowed me to find FreeSat in 5 Minutes.
Also, have a good compass, and know where you need to point the dish.
You should be good to go :-)

Picking up our satellite kit this week. My plan B is that if I can't get it working, cold beer might tempt a techie from another pitch =)

If you want FreeSat (UK Channels) the dish needs to be pointed at around 144 degrees
If you want German Eurosport I believe it is 155 or 156 degrees.

Point dish, and then when you get a good signal tune your receiver in.

Satellite locator on iphone works well. Had a dry run last weekend with the 60cm dish and a tripod. works a treat roughly around 145-147 degrees on a compass. If you have any trouble come find us we're on houx!!

Bit of a mega bump but if anyone fancies earning themselves a beer or five and helping us out we'd appreciate it, we've spent the past two afternoons and literally picked up nothing, not even an ounce of signal. So something must be fault? Nope, 2x lnb's tried (one just bought) coax replaced and the box has been tested on existing sky dish and picks up/retunes fine. When plugged into our Le Mans dish we get bugger all. Massively frustrating.

I had a go today just to be sure, and not wanting to gloat but hehe

Did take a bit of fking around as the dish was wobbling loads in the wind on its quality mount, but got there in the end. Do you have a sat meter? I picked up Hotbird 13" East first, then once I had that just went left a bit...

Where abouts are you camping?

Damn.... yeah have a cheap eBay jobby from China, didn't really help much, just seems to give out a similar tone wherever the hill the dish is pointed. Staying on Houx Annexe, arriving Wednesday dinnertime. What's most annoying is ruling out faulty equipment, it must just be our mega poor alignment skills.

Trial run this afternoon. Tuned into German Eurosport no problem with small suitcase type dish. Should be well set for France as signal is stronger there.
60cm dish is easy for uk satellite when in France due to tighter focus of signal but euro satellite is easier to pick up.

If you want a hand let me know and I'll PM you my number.

We'll have a go there too, but judging by lack of anything at all here we may need a hand haha. H and I 28 and 29 we are on, we have the 09:25 ferry on Wednesday morning so we'll be there 4/5pm at a guess. Sure fire over your number, it will be nice to have a backup if needed smile

We used to tune into German Eurosport, but something changed last year, can't remember if we got it in the end
