After the ferocious German man getting arrested last year, I might stay back a bit.

Cant stand mad friday or the chavvy lemmings who partake in it.

The sooner the Police get a grip of it and make it a thing of the past, the better.

I think I'll pass. Last year I found a nice place to eat in the old town so I'll probably go there. Failing that I'll open a bottle of scotch and have a jolly civilised evening in the camp site!

As alluded to on other threads, the occasional bit of 'controlled excess' is absolutely tolerable. It's the bellend circus that seems to descend and conspire to spoil ordinary racegoers' fun that bothers most...

He'd been goading the cars to do burnouts (as had 100's of others) but he was taking it a bit far. Now I'd nipped to the loo and come back and he was being beaten with batons by the police then thrown into the back of the riot van, some said he decided to put fairy liquid down for the police van to do a burnout...they didn't want to play.

I think I speak for many when I say – please go somewhere else (like Blackpool or Malaga) for your holidays and stop ruining the atmosphere at motorsport events.

Fridays at Indianapolis used to be great – lots of cars on show and like minded people just enjoying chatting to fellow enthusiasts – Mad Fridays are just for those with a ‘stag-do mentality’ toward the whole weekend and they have driven some true motorsports and racing fans away.
Anyone with a decent car who cares about it probably isn’t going to turn up and do burnouts for your amusement…

As much as i agree about the idiots, even when we all used to meet up at Indanapolis years ago, there would be plenty of cars doing a burnout, race start etc etc. infact i once remember being crammed in the back of a TVR Cerbra, leaving mutiple sets of elevensies, and loads of astons, ferraris and tvr's etc doing similar there and on the mulsanne outside the resturant, and all of this was a good bit of fun.

So having not been for the last 6 years what has changed? is it that there is now a lower caliber of metal doing the aforementioned?

Regards
Matt

Yes. Back in the day people with decent cars used to drive out to different places, park up around Indianapolis etc, with the odd bit of hi-jinx.

Then the Police decided to put a stop to this and close off the roads on the Friday, forcing everyone to hang around the circuit itself.

Also, YouTube came along and videos of bad behaviour appeared making it seem the norm to newbies, along with hoards of bus travellers from Denmark who were dumped in a tented ghetto down at the Beausejour roundabout with no easy way of getting to more civilised locations, so they just hang around on the roadside and drink.

The people with decent cars started avoiding the crowds leaving things to the lower orders.

Exactly. I avoid the Chinese on the Hunadieres like the plague now on a Friday. I much prefer to leave the wheels safe on pitch, walk the pits/village and head into Le Mans for a few beers via the tram in the evening.

Matt, my Cerb was never the same again!! biggrin

+1

sadly those who understand don't need to be told and those that need to be told can't understand.
