Hi Watch Peeps

any recommendations ?

my local jeweller who I bought it from are not noticeably good value but I'm not sure what alternatives there are?

Cheers and thanks

PS it has decided to work intermittently in protest at my only having it serviced once In 10 years
PPS it never ever kept good time

Thewatchlab.co.uk. Think they are nation wide company. Or back to breitling. It should come back like new from them.

What kind of Breitling is it?

Breitling now won't share their parts with independents so servicing is still OK, but if it's more than that, your local indie probably can't get the part unless it's got a generic movement frown

Has a nice simple Valjoux (now ETA/Swatch) 7750 movement inside - a good indie will get that as good as new and it should be able to be regulated quite easily if nothing is worn.

About £180+ from an indie (Steve Burrage at Ryte Time - highly recommended) or back to Breitling for £500 with basic case and bracelet clean, or about £800 and your watch will come back like new thumbup

Where on earth did you get that pricing from? I had my emergency recently serviced via the Boutique on regent's street. Just over £300 including battery / seal replacements, service and full case / bracelet refinish.

I think the key word here is 'battery'. The OPs watch is an automatic chronograph, however a quick check here proves my memory was playing tricks on me:

So £550 for a full service and overhaul or £230 for maintenance service.

Apologies for my wildly overstated mark up – I must have been thinking of Rolex getmecoat

Who actually charge less than Breitling at 430 quid for full service and refinish.

Still, who needs facts, eh?

Not for a Cosmograph they don't wink

Anyway, I apologised for the memory mistake and instantly corrected it with the facts so no harm done smile

Seeing as everyone else is picking on you, just like to point out about £140 from an indie working at Anglesey rates (we're poor up here) wink

Just spoke to Watches of Switzerland in the City and they charge £680 for a service on a 1972 Oyster Perpetual Datejust ('because it's a classic sir' FFS!)
