Hi all
just got back from a trip to Malta. As well as seeing lots of old British cars from 60s/70s I happened upon two Jago(?) Geeps. On the screen suround a different name was marked (will look at the photos again), running gear was Escort, panel fit was bad - so, what are they? Poor copies or real Jagos marketed under a different name in Malta? Anyone got the answer?

Hi MF
Pics quick !!!
Burton's have a branch in Malta as old Fords are so popular there but we really need to see what your mystery car looked like.

Malta- Mediterranean- jeeps...

I have a feeling:

and just look at the selection of steel wheels fitted to those Peugeot hubs.

I do know a while back ( quite a few years ago)somewhere abroad (could have been Malta) that there were some "Jago's" around which did turn out to be badly made copies.
If I remember correctly they were not well made either.

Have put picture of the Geep(?) in the yahoo site photo album. It is labeled Geep (drof) in Malta. The name in brackets is what is marked on the front panel of the car in question. Anyone any thoughts?

yeap they are the ones we heard about before.
The drof gave it away.
Will try to find the information on these from a few years back.

OK found it
Back in 1991 a club member was over in Malta and saw what he thought was a Jago but as already said on this thread it had DROF on the front panel.
As shown in the picture on the yahoo forum the differences are the front wings and the ribs moulded on the body tub.
So it does appear that there is a copycat business running/previously running in Malta turning out copies of Jago Geeps.

How dare they!

On a similar note Techsec, theres a good looking foriegn Geep in the photo album on the Technical site with Coyote emblazoned along the bonnet & a few differences to the bodywork.
Is this one somebody exported?
