Hi,

I am still searching for the 'right' Z4 and think an Alpina Roadster 3.4 S may be the way to go.

A nice one has appeared but I wanted to see if anybody knows the car. I have registered on the Alpina Forum but awaiting my account to become active.

The car is #32 and advertised on AT.

Has had alloys refurbished, a new roof motor and, interestingly, a top end rebuild after the timing chain snapped. I know that head gaskets go on this engine but a duplex chain is new to me. Anyway, if you look at it from one perspective you are getting a 'new' engine but it could also be seen as a negative.

As always, I welcome any discussion.

Hi, might be better off here:

BMW General http://www.pistonheads.co.uk/gassing/forum.asp?h=0...
BMW M http://www.pistonheads.co.uk/gassing/forum.asp?h=0...

Often consider an Alpina, just worries me that any specific parts are a licence to empty my wallet.

Must admit I was disappointed when I played with one. I thought it lacked personality and pace to be honest. I didn't think it was one of their stronger efforts.

Interesting - I have not had a go yet but they seem to get good write ups as a 'daily' Z4M. However, as you have driven one it would make sense to take your points onboard.

It may be OBE anyway as I am off to see an old standard 3.0i tonight (if SWMBO lets me!) that is local and advertised on PH.
