Hi All

I need a bit of help please.

Can someone tell me what size the exhaust mounting rubbers are which support the silencer on a 350i. I don't have any on mine!! I have a new exhaust which is being fitted next week and I need to get the mounting rubbers. Just as a prompt I believe they are the 'cotton reel' type.

Cheers in anticipation.

Hi Adi,

after chewing through so many of these bobbins, some lasting a mere week or two, I got disillusioned with them and I now put an M8 bolt through both holes and a piece of coolant pipe about 2" long in between as a spacer. Use some penny washers too on both ends. Then do the bolt up not too tight - just so the tube starts to squash - use a nyloc on it to keep it done up.

Eventually the pipe will perish but no bother take the bolt off and put a new bit in there.

They are the cotton reel exhaust mountings from a mini. On the Bay search for 'cotton reel mini exhaust mountings' and you'll find plenty. They are about £5 per pair. I fitted a pair on my 350SE recently. They don't last very long. Maybe a couple of years if you are careful over the road humps etc.

Thanks Guys

Adam, do you know how long a bolt I will need? That way I can go and get stainless ones.

Probably about 75mm - bout the same as the bobbin including studs. But to play it safe get a couple of 100mm omes too.
