I love both my TVR's - 350i and Cosworth S. Both cars have passed their tests with no dramas and really need nothing apart from the usual TVR ongoing odds and ends. However, I can't drive two cars at once and keep getting a hankering to sell up both and get a bigger Wedge or a dare I say it a Chim....am I mad??

No, not at all. The thought of a bigger badder Wedge would certainly be my choice if I was in your shoes. Had my 350i since January - fastest most exciting car I've owned to date, but...... now that I'm hooked on Wedges the green mist does appear when I see a 400SE or 450SE advertised.

I have spent a fair bit of money getting my cars the way I want them Keith.....but a bigger V8 would be really nice!! The wedge is a brilliant car and I love driving it and the S is just bonkers.....

Keep them both as they both have different characters and if one went you would miss it. I have 2 'fun' cars and just try to make sure neither stays parked for too long.

If your Wedge is as you want it, why not just stick a 4.6 or 5ltr in it.

If its an itch you have to scratch then go for it but why change your 350i - more power?, looks?, handling?

If both cars are sorted then I would be inclined to stick with them or at least save and just sell one (would be a shame if you didn't like the change and had sold both....).

I (briefly) had a 'bonkers' Cosworth S last year before getting my SEAC and also had a 350i in between my hobby of buying Chims.

Whilst my 'keeper' is my 'bonkers' Griff I will ALWAYS be looking for the next Wedge (although may have to get divorced first....).

Hope that answers your question....

Paul.

I think it does and I don't want to regret selling. I would like a V8 with a bit more grunt than the 350i has. Hence a bigger wedge or Chim.....

Never have the same car twice is my motto.

I have obeyed this law apart from the wedge (the previous being 1988)....no more straying from the law for me, lol!

Buy a Chim - had I driven my brothers before I bought the wedge I would've bought a Chim instead.

Speaking as the proud owner of a 2.8, I'd like a V8 to start with.....

However if I had a 350, personally I would be looking at an alternative V8, as quite a few will fit as I understand the dimensions of popular V8 blocks. Several threads here that the wonderful LS1-onwards Corvette
lumps fit for example.

Here in NZ, LS6 engines are fiited into Holden Commodores, and are (relatively) cheap. I guess in UK I might look at the BMW 4.0 (4.4 ?) M series, if you can find one....

Shame is none of the common V8 blocks fit in the early chassis easily, and NZ is pretty rigid about chassis mods, so it's a real PITA to reregister a modded vehicle... not sure if UK is better now, it used to be easy, but I've been gone for 20 years...

I just love the wedge shape, and don't want to lose it, although the Chimaera does have some beautiful angles too...

[ and hey aren't we ALL mad, more or less ???? ]

Has anybody looked at the Nissan 3.7 engine and gearbox, as fitted in the 370Z? I've never seen the advantage of more cylinders; the displacement is more important to me. The sound can be modified with the exhaust.

In NZ at least the Nissan VQ V6 (2.5L - 3.7L and possibly more) comes in quite a few different cars, but they are all FWD. I can get a 3.5 engine (and its loom and EFI) fairly easily, but RWD gearboxes for them are VERY expensive, and so far haven't found a conversion kit... May be USA has some ? Not sure it will fit in My 2.8 frame as it's DOHC so quite wide.

For NZ and Aus, common and cheap 'large car' RWD engines and boxes are Ford Falcon 4.0 L6, now in twin cam form, or Holden (=GM/Buick) 3800 V6 in various flavours (and Turbo/Supercharged !), and newer 3.6 V6 which I know nothing about....

Actually, even if I had a RV8, I would still consider a 3800V6, as one with a factory supercharger etc, would probably bolt in easily.....

Most of the Nissan/Mitsi/Toyota/etc are all FWD..so gearbox is the main problem to solve
