team carbon - how much is it worth?

I have a boardman team carbon (cant remember the exact frame size but its a large frame fits me well and I am 6ft tall) which I got in 2011 and which was used (but looked after for 18 months) and hasnt really been used all that much for the past year. might have covered 1500 miles in total.

in very good nick, no marks on the frame etc and everything works as it should.

It of the last vintage before the team carbons started to be subjected to slightly cheaper components.

what do we think its worth?

Rule of thumb is Half retail after a year then a further 10% each year.
So eg. 1000new - 500 - 450 - 405 - 365 -

The big Year 1 drop allows for things like daft Halfords pricing, C2W net costs, etc.

Boardmans sell well on ebay I believe as it's a well known oft searched brand.

they sell well but only the much newer versions. my version, whilst the old one, is one of the better ones I think because they downgraded a lot of the bits on it in later versions to keep it under a grand.

I was thinking it was worth about a monkey give or take but cant find anything to back it up...

Give or take a hundred I'd agree, sell it when the TDF starts and (if) we have some OK weather it will be popular

I bought an older one a year ago for 650 and they were seedling like hot cakes on eBay. If it's immaculate, take some nice pics and it'll go for 600+ I'm sure. Good luck.

I've been watching the 2010 model year team carbons in small on eBay, they seem to go for about450 to 475

If yours was the 2011 model (instead of a 2010 you bought in 2011) then I'd expect to see about 550 ish.

Maybe low 600s if you're lucky but I'd be surprised.

If its one of the white team carbon limited editions, they seem to go for a couple of hundred more.

Which one - is it the Team Carbon with the full 105 set, or the older one with SRAM?
If its the 105 version, then I sold my one to my mate 6 months ago for £500 when I upgraded to this years Pro SLR. I'd been knocked off so there was a tear on the hoods, a scratch on the derailleur and a scuff on the saddle. They were going for ~£650 on ebay even slightly tatty, so I could have got more, but he wanted a road bike.

I sold my SRAM version last year to a friend. I had put Kysirium Elites on it 8 months before selling it. The wheels made a massive difference and it was a great bike.

My friend had been looking for one for a while and he offered me £1k which I accepted. I was pleasantly surprised but my friend said he was looking at £600-£700 for a good SRAM Rival version so was pleased with the deal.

They were the first truly good bike for a grand, in their day.

There are always a few Planet X Pro Carbons on Ebay and none of the ones that I've watched have ever gone for £500. Even the ones with the older logo go for £700+.

It depends on the groupset of said Boardman. SRAM will drop the value a bit, but I still think it could be worth ££600-£700

The SRAM bikes are older but Rival is a match for Ultegra, rather than 105. In fact the Team, before it became carbon, had Ultegra. It only went from Rival to 105 to downgrade the kit and keep it under £1000.

Many people know this and look for the SRAM equipped bikes as a good second bike.

Good ones still go for £600-700, despite their age.

Probably bought through C2W scheme but would rather have the money in their pocket!

Not exactly a great idea as they'll probably get £600 - £700 and will end up paying more than that back to their company in payment (if thats the case).

Any one of us could buy that for £729 from Halfords, so maybe hes hoping he can sell it for £900 (saving someone £100 over RRP), though its a load of ballache for the sake of £170 minus ebay fees...

A 30 second search for similar bikes actually sold on Ebay are around 650.
Take off fees... So around 600

When my brother's hardtail got nicked, he was already thinking of replacing it with a full susser. Unfortunately the insurance company wouldn't let him have the money, replaced his stolen bike like for like. He then sold it in local FreeAds that week for about £50 less than it cost.
