A friend in the office wants a bottle of a liqueur from Ibiza as a present for her father's 60th. Can't see anywhere to buy in the UK but have found a source online.

The shipping is eye-wateringly expensive almost as much as the drink itself but not sure what the duty/customs implications are?

Any ideas on what the process is and costs, the liqueur is Hierbas Mari Mayans costing around £20, the shipping is almost the same! If anyone knows a more local outlet to grab a bottle or two, alternatively thoughts on the duty costs?

Thanks

There is no tax or any other issues if you're posting from within the EU.

UK delivery would obviously be better though. I've no idea if they sell it here but if its available in Portugal and you can't get it from the UK one, I'll send you a bottle if you like. No idea if it'll be any cheaper with me taking one into a post office here though smile

becasue it;s coming from (mainland) Spain , within the EU as a consumer purchase ( and presumably tax and duty paid in Spain) there's not customs / duty implication

however should the UK leave the EU expect the kind of bum raping people complain aobut with regard to imports from the US or japan ...

Thanks everyone for the help, it gives me some decent options of ingratiating myself!! Seriously though, some excellent stuff here, so thanks so much I'll drop by Gerry's first and then take it from there!

Just an FYI;

The bottle readily available in Ibiza is this one:

The one I have bought a couple of times in Gerry's is this one (with the branches inside!):

Exactly the same drink, taste and from the same company (Mari Mayans)...just a different bottle.
