Small Laptop?

I'm on the lookout for a small laptop. They seem to be ratehr thin on the ground for some reason. Not looking for a new one per-se as i only really need a P3 with about 512 of RAM and about 15gb HDD.
So far i've found:

Compaq M400
Dell C400 (which i don't really like)
Toshiba Portege 7200
ermm....

any suggestions?

Used: I've used the Portege 3480CT for a few years now - very light and portable, but limited to 192Mb RAM which has ultimately caused me to stop using it for work.

IBM X31 here. Very, very happy with it. Usual IBM quality, lots of features, and small and light. And a useful 6 to 8 hrs of battery life too. No CD/DVD, granted, but I rarely use one and when I do need to move stuff around, a USB pen drive works fine. I've got a USB2 Freecom external CDRW/DVD combo drive, which suffices when you need it.

Centrino 1.6GHz, 768Mb ram, built-in wireless - love it. It won't play games though, naturally (that's not what I use it for, though).

12in Powerbook?

When i was looking around for a smallish laptop i looked at windows based laptops and they all had shite battery life and lacked the processing power.
The powerbooks are the opposite... great battery and processor power in a small and light package.

I have an ancient IBM ThinkPad 240 that I acquired as a lightweight 2nd laptop (as our main laptop is a very meaty VAIO 796GP but at 4kg all-up is a bit heavy).

The processor is a somewhat weedy Celeron 300Mhz and it's only got 128Mb of RAM, but it weighs about the same as a packet of crisps (well, ok, 1kg) and with the addition of a Wi-Fi PCMCIA card does sterling work as a portable web-browser and also as a ECU diagnostics tool for my Corrado too.

Don't know if this is what you're looking for, but with them going for about £200 on eBay it's got to be a bargain.

I like toshiba (using one now) but the smallest I've seen are these.

We've got 5 Compaq N400c's at work and I wouldn't recommend them - they don't come with much cool stuff.

I'd recommend a Samsung q10 (or whatever the current equivalent model number is) as I have found them to be fantastic, tiny machines with tons of features!

That's the thing, my current laptop has loads of cool stuff and it's crap. The M400 is what sterted me thinking along these lines as my E500 seems to be getting heavier every day.

I bought it for downloading the data loggers on the car, it doesnt have a serial port, but you can get a USB converter

Great screen, shame it only has a 40Gb hard drive, but it is still worth it!!!

Urmmmmm.....No I was tempted to swap, but mine looks better on my desk at work, otherwise id have jumped at the chance!!!
