I've decided my AVOs have probably seen better days and just don't seem to be adjusting properly. What's the best option for their replacement, Bilsteins, Protech etc?

Having read quite a lot recently, I'm not even sure adjustable shocks are a main priority. Car is a 2006 Duratec...

Cheers

I spent ages trying tio assess all the options when I upgraded mine. In the end I went with caterhams own upgraded race dampers and springs. They are not adjustable and I've never wished they were as the calibration has been just fine for me. My car is a 2007 r400'durarec.

Speak to Richard Scott at Penske U.K. They have a nice 2 way adjustable option for the seven. About 400+VAT a corner IIRC.

I think the point of buying a Caterham rather than any other Seven,is to benefit from all their years of development.

Either buy a set of Catetham Bilstiens set for your car, or prepare to invest a lot of money getting alternatives properly tuned to your car.

I know what I will do when my standard dampers wear out.

If you want proper advice from a man who knows about & has used pretty much all the dampers on the market for 7's on the road & at the pointy end of Caterham sprint & hill climb championship for many years speak to Simon at Meteor motorsport.

Not only does he sell most of the bespoke set up options but also has his own damper dyno so can check & service most of them too.

For what its worth I have used the standard billies, Nitrons & currently Ohlin's from Meteor.

The Ohlins are by far & away the best, however Meteor now sell Nitrons with special revalved internals that apparently closely match the Ohlins but at a more sensible price!
