pinto engines and tuning blog

The Pinto Engine is very old hat now, but I think it's a great unburstable lump.
Had the following cars with these engines:-
Ford Capri 1600 Orange
Ford Capri 1600 White
Ford Capri 1600 Red
Ford Granada 2.0 Brown
Ford Granada 2.0 Blue
Westfield SEi with weber twin 40's
Tiger Supersix with weber twin 40's.
I have probably driven over 300,000 miles in Pinto engined cars, without a single breakdown or incident.
Just make sure the oil and filter are changed every 6,000 miles to prevent the camshaft spraybar becoming blocked, and you should not have any problems....

Standard 2.0 Pinto with Weber 32/36 carb in my Capri.
It's OK, does its job fairly well, not what I'd describe as inspiring but it gets on with the job of propelling the Capri without fuss. It has been reliable, surviving a cooling system boil-over when the viscous fan drive failed, and at just over 100,000 miles it just needs valve stem seals to stop the blue smoke on start-up.
Can't speak for the tuned versions, but as the basis for the Cosworth YB it must have some potential!

Hi guys and girls I have a 2.25 highly tuned pinto in my sierra hatch back and just wondered who else has pinto power what it's in and what's been done to it B-)
Do a thread about it on readers cars, I for one love 60's/70's/80's Fords.
already in that forum......Any how O.P we need pictures and details.
I had a Pinto.
A 205 Cosworth block, gas flowed 2.1 litre head, twin 45 Webers, Kent Fast Road cam, up rated con rod bolts, lightened flywheel, race clutch, Pipercross Filter , Facet Red Top fuel pump, Magnecor competition leads, alloy sump.
155 bhp at the wheels, 160 lbs/ ft. Rev limit 6500.
This was in my Westfield.
Brutal low down power with the ability to rev. Noise was incredible as was the flames from the exhaust. The car and engine was a beast.
