Years ago I marshalled on a few RAC rallies and the spectators would just stand where they wanted to and not take any notice of marshalls.I find it very sad that the media take no notice of motorsport unless there is a crash - LeMans in 2 weeks time will have no/minimal coverage unless there is a crash. When will they wake up to the fact that football is not the only sport?
Best wishes to all involved and really hope the early reports are wrong.
What a horrible thing to hear of. Was down at this today for a spot of spectating, perfect day for it. Unfortunately this shines a bad light on the sport from the medias point of view. Soon there won't be spectating at rallies due to these kind of things.
Was it a couple of years ago at the snowman when someone was killed? Sounds similar.
But as said, best to wait until the official reports come out.

I'm not being funny, but I've always said these guys at rallys are absolute nutters. I'm always amazed more of them aren't killed.
Darwinism I guess?
It is a high risk sport for driver and spectator. I agree that it is amazing that more have not been killed historically, especially in some 80's footage where cars are driving at a near wall of spectators, blind faith that they will get out of the way. It will trigger a review of event safety (spectators on outside of corners, etc), but I hope not a ban in any form.Darwinism I guess?

It's like standing at the end of a rifle range with Stevie Wonder pulling the trigger. Sometimes you'll get hit, sometimes you won't. I wouldn't wanna take the risk however.
