I know I said nothing much broke during the 1500 mile Yorkshire/Scotland trip but yesterday I notice the exhaust was hanging a bit low and found the rear hanger is missing.

Does anyone have a photograph of the part please as I can't see it in the SH bible.

I assume its just an L shaped bar with thread on the longer end?

I was thinking of bending some threaded rod. Might need to heat it to bend it. Would a blow torch get it hot enough?

The answer to all your questions is yes.

If you use a threaded bar you can adjust the height of the hanger.

Grind off most of the thread were it slips into the rubber mount to prevent wear.

I prefer to make it in 2 pieces so you can bolt through the rubber (using washers at each end so it stays in place) into an 'eye' / hole to clamp on to the bar running down to the exhaust.

If you trim the ends of the rubber and slot the holes in the bracket it will give you extra adjustment to level the exhausts ( Griff boys are particularly obsessive about their wheelbarrow handles rofl ).
