Last year mine was rubbish so had it re gassed it got a bit better but not great. Normally use it every now and then in winter but tbh I didn't this year. Come to use it today and it's not working at all.

I can hear it kick in and out when the engine is running not sure if this is correct never had that with any other car.

Any ideas chaps ?

I know they need using regularly to keep them in top working order.. Sorry, that's no help.
I have a Mk 2 Focus ST and it's working fine..at the moment.

Nothing leaking at all? I can't be sure, but I'll check with mine...I think when I switch mine on, it stays on until I switch off? Don't think it kicks in/out? But I will check.

Pump should be kicking in & out when the ac is on & normally wouldn't do this if there was no gas as the low pressure switch would shut the system down

Are you getting good airflow in the car? It's not unusual for the pollen filter not to be changed on service on the focus & they can get blocked up

Thanks for that at least i know the pump is working as it should.

Its due a service so the pollen filter might be blocked a bit. That cant be the issue as the air that does get blown isnt cold at all.

If the low pressure switch would stop the pump running if there wasnt any gas in the system Im assuming the system is still full.

What else could cause the problem ?

could be the gas level is low but enough for the system to work or could possibly be the compressor, any garage that has a machine & knows how to use it properly should be able to tell you easily enough
