It appears I can buy a brand new XFR (510 PS) as it comes from the factory without any additional options) for £30,400 tax free, or £37,000 with tax, which seems like an amazing amount of car for the money. It works out cheaper than almost any of the other versions of the car.
Has anybody driven / owned one of these? I may be interested in buying one, running it for a year, and selling it on for a small profit or is the depreciation greater than the price differential?

Found it to be the least confidence inspiring of the cars on the day, as did the others. It was primarily because of the steering but we were not allowed to put it in 'sport' mode so perhaps it's an unfair review.
But what a a engine!

Pedestrian system sensor gone. Why the hell does anyone need an airbag to smash the bonnet upwards .
Adaptive headlight broke, annoying flashing lights.
1/50 starts it doesn't start up. Starts after the next try.
Parked outside a corner shop the other day, came back to a dead car. Battery in the boot, lock behind numberplate. Luckily corner shop guy had a screwdriver. Undid terminal, reattached car back to normal.
Just a generic bag of crap car tbh. Biggest disappointment ever.

My wife works for NATO over here so it would be through her. I just found it incredible that the almost flagship model was cheaper than the nasty 4 pot dag dag soot chucker. £30k is no spec M135i money - both good cars but I know which I would have. Buy it new and you get a warranty so no issues.
.I can go either way but if you later sell the car, which I would, then you have to pay the Chancellor the tax which, if I understand it correctly, will be based on the original price rather than what you sell it for. It may actually be cheaper to pay the tax up front.

Love the thing but when I first got it I thought it hid its weight well, now my opinion has changed. The weight certainly can be felt and I'm not sure I'm all in for this 1 car does "most" idea anymore. I wanted a fast family car and I picked an xfr as something different.
Now my daughter gets car sick so I can't drive it quick and when I take it out in the evenings, like tonight sure I have a hoot, it attracts a lot of attention and it feels very edgy. It's stupid fast, so much so I can't drive it near its potential but that weight can be felt, even at medium speeds and it feels a bit dicey occasionally. I think it's 99% my lack of skill but the public roads aren't a place to find out. So on the track I'm sure an m5 would feel a step up in terms of on the limit drivability.
But for the road I do love it!
Ps I'm sure at that price you would be looking at a healthy profit. I will buy one too and give you a bit of cash !!
