Hi all,
Can anyone recommend a good mechanic/garage who would be interested in supplying and fitting a decent replacement engine for 4.2 car as stated above. Either that or someone who would be able to rebuild the engine.
The car is in good nick other than the engine problem and I want to save it. However, I'm not rich and need to find someone who is not going to charge me stupid labour rates and might take cash!
The car is a runner (in fact it drives well) and had the head off it last year so there shouldn't be the need to spends days sorting that out!
Cheers for the help people.

David Marks in Nottingham. Back when I owned XJ's he was seen to be the specialist in such motors. Excellent chap to deal with and seriously good quality work.
I do not work for him, I no longer have Jags (I am still a lover of Jags tho', hence being here on this part of the forums!) and this is obviously IMHO.
Try this.......

You'd think so... However, my experience to date is that many of the engines that are available have been stood for a long time, run for a couple of hours, and are then sold on without a warranty worth having (2 months, which in a classic is pointless due to low mileage driven).
Recon engines go for thousands.
I have found a chap to do it - Jag specialist but not a main dealer. Should be a couple of grand, maybe a bit more.

Speak with Chris Window at WINSPEED in Guildford. They have a shed loads of XK engines being rebuilt for clients cars and I am sure they could look after you.
They won't be cheap though.Gassing Station | Jaguar | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
