Potential Mk2 escort restoration
Discussion
Evening all
found out about a car yesterday that I had forgetten all about
in late 1970's my grandad bought a new mk2 escort which he drove for a few years then sadly died suddenly
the car has been sat in a garage ever since - but a dry and semi heated garage which good windows and doors etc
i havent seen the car since I was a young kid about 20 years ago - dont think it has moved since
all i know is its a 1 owner car, less than 10k on the clock
its a Ghia model in maroon with the black roof and is apparently rust free
im not the best with older cars but always liked the thought of an old ford
question is - how much work is it likely to need and is it worth saving?
im guessing itll need a new engine, brakes, wheels, suspension and all the associated lines etc

It'll need new brake flexibles and cylinders, tyres, fan belt, hoses - in fact everything rubbery.
Check the engine will turn over and drain the fuel tank.
Then bleed some fresh fuel through to the carb, fit a new battery and change the oil. Turn it over with the plugs out to get oil pressure.
Then re-fit the plugs and see what happens !
