I thought I had a problem with my head unit (Pioneer AVH-X7500BT)and/or sat nav unit (Pioneer Avic-F250)

I could hear the sat nav voice, but couldn't get a display on the screen of the head unit, so I thought that perhaps a connection was loose at the rear.

Rather than exhaust all possible easier options, I decided (like an idiot)to take out the head unit. It was only after I took it out that I realised I just needed to change the RGB option to 'nav', by holding the touch screen button down for five seconds to change the options from iPhone cables.

So, very happy that I sorted out my sat nav, but can I put that head unit back into place, can I hell! No matter what I do, it will not slide back in, there's simply too many wires stopping it!

Short of removing the dash, has anyone had this problem and found a solution?

I am thinking of cutting off the superfluous plugs (of which there are many) - or is that a complete no-no?

I just can't see how I can get all these wires and head unit back in place, tried for over an hour!

ETA - FFS - Wish I had the sense to check the title spelling before hitting the submit button!

Feed the loom in first (so you can push the wires all the way in) leaving just enough to plug it back into the head unit then slide it into the slot. It's a bit of a pita but it can be done.

Also stick your hand up inside the alcove under the radio where the cigarette lighter is to assist smile

Cheers smile Will have another crack at it tomorrow.

To fix my one remaining ICE niggle, the drivers door pod speaker seems have been forgotten to be re-connected. I took the speaker off, but no sign of the connections. How easy is it to removed the door card?

I threaded a couple of pieces of wire through the dash front and out the back so they came out in the alcove under the radio. Then wrapped/taped these to the wires from the stereo so they could be pulled back while slowly and carefully pushing the radio into place.
Needs a bit of patience but it can be done.

Thanks for the tips, guys - much appreciated. smile

I have taken the door card off and found the speaker wires lurking at the bottom. (had a look at the window mechanism while I had access, looks like new!)

Once this is done, I shall try (again) with re-fitting the head unit.

OK, all done and working! What a faff!

I took off the drivers carpet and found this, does anyone know what, if anything it should be attached to?

That bottom image almost looks like your diagnostic plug with three pins...presumably it isnt and the diagnostic connector is still dangling down by the relay/fuse board.

My reverse isn't working (light and camera), and it was before the re-trim (I know because bought a new switch and fixed it..) That plug has nothing to do with that, does it?

I have one more (slightly out of focus) shot of it:

In fact ignore that you've only got two wires from that plug.

Wire for the electric lumbar support option that most cars don't have?

Good call! Could very well be. I have manual lumbar support (same as you)

OK, assuming that's nothing to do with reverse wires, the reverse switch (camera) is the only problem left (bit of a bummer, as I had just changed the switch myself and all was working perfectly...)

I had a very similar problem in my Tuscan and ended up chopping the wires and putting bullets in. In the end I was thankful I took it out as I came across this cowboy horror story on the main feed:

yikes

I ended up cutting off the speaker plugs and insulating the ends. I figured that if I ever wanted more speakers, I'd probably change the head unit anyway.
