Well. This was yet another great trip last month. Me and 2 Boxsters in the end.

We managed to get on the Chunnel on the Wednesday at 9.20 and were at the hotel at 4.00pm which was perfect despite a couple of comfort/petrol stops. Getting 37mpg out of a 260hp / 1400kg 4-seater is brilliant too !

The Wednesday TF evening was very quiet and felt perfectly safe. The BMW surprised me a lot actually, probably thanks to the Supersports which are absurdly grippy and predictable.

This place is simply addictive. It still feels very very special and the novelty simply won't wear in despite repeated trips... I am even starting to know the track... a little...

Second day in the Swift was brilliant as it was my friend Mike’s first driving laps there and after a wisely slow sighting lap, he was totally in his element (he is a good pedaler). Quite a lot of traffic actually, more than last year. Quite a few track closures but we managed 14 laps between us, which was OK. My last two laps were a bit wet and even more exciting if I am honest. Not sure I would have driven a UK reg car though.

Friday was unfortunately foggy and wet so the track didn’t open until very late by which time we had decided to leave as we wouldn’t have had time to put the laps in. We were lucky that Dale at Rent4Ring gave us a full refund.

So what’s next ? I can’t wait to go back and would like more laps in my car on a quiet day/evening. Possibly October time this year and I’d like to take my mountain bike too to dedicate a day to riding around the track for unique view points.

I "dropped bye" for my first time on the weekend.

What a fantastic place, took my merc CLK55 around which was fantastic, even if i had no brakes for the second half of each lap!!

Cant wait to get back with the BEC Westy!

I can fully recommend sliders guest house to stay, Brendan is great, even took me for an insane lap in his MX5.

Oh and german food is the very best, best steak ever in a pub near the ring.

I took the back roads back to Belgium, well worth it, fantastic drive.
