I know this topic has been around quite a while but I am wondering if there has been any progress on finding suitable chrome bezels for our wedges? (350i with square clock)

Yep I'd like a set as well if anyone is thinking of going into production.

Finally got round to making some dash bezels.
Just need to make a form tool to round them off, and then make the bigger ones for the Rev / Speedo

As standard they will most likely end up with a brushed finish, or slightly shinny.
I could polish them and or anodize them, but this will take longer and add to costs. Its taken 2 days machining and 2 days set-up to make the 30 small ones so far.

be interested on anyone who wants some and what sizes.

I would be interested in a set for my 400SE if anyone is making some. Five small ones for the centre console and two larger ones for speedo and tacho.

A set for my 400se as well please Leigh. Very approx. dims for the 5 smaller are 50mm and for the 2 larger are 80mm.

Fixing is by gluing in some way?

Cheers

The I have a 400SE and a 280i so can make for either.
Current batch was designed for the 400SE, will be working on the bigger ones once the dash ones are done they are 52.1mm for the fitting edge so should be a very close fit. (this is based on the replacement walnut as supplies by someone on here. I know the original had an internal black seal, so they could be too big for these. if anyone still as an intact walnut, they could be filed or sanded to fit, or the seal removed).

I would suggest using a little silicone sealant to keep them in place, as then they could be removed without leaving a mark, like glue would.

Hopefully I should have 6 400SE sets of 7 by Monday, I'll base the price on how long it take me to finish them all and cost of materials.

but looks like everyone is happy with just a standard ali finish.

Any preference on profile. I think the one on the left looks better in real life, but only made 10 so far. so I can make then as the ones on the right if people think it looks better. would like your options before I make the other 20.

I prefer the one on the left, as like you say, they look better. I had a set similar on a previous Wedge. However, I'd like a set whichever you decide to make. Thanks.

PS. I don't know to what depth you are making them and I'm sure you know what you are doing, but I took a close look at mine and the clock rims behind the walnut fascia is leaning against the back of the fascia so there isn't a great amount of depth. Merely two or three mm from what I can see. The clock dimensions you mentioned are the same on mine. I'm no expert and don't know if I've explained that properly.

I do know what you mean about depth. Esp with the new after market walnut. As it's very thin.
I've made mine with less of a lip then the others that are about so depth should not be a problem.
The depth is only 3.2mm max as this is double the width of my parting tool.

I've found it very hard to get everyone the same, due to chatter. So sometimes need to make an extra skim. But I should be able to match up a set of 5 out of 30 for the best match. Form more than a foot away you can't see any difference, only on very close inspection. Maybe I'm just being too fussy.

Can you post a pic of your Dash, I guess it the same as a 280i, just want to double check, then I can measure the size on my 280i
