Apart from Radio Le Mans on 91.20 are there any other radio stations broadcasting in English at the circuit either FM or Digital available? This is for both race coverage and World Cup commentary purposes.

Don't think so, the BBC world service doesn't cover France, don't think UK based stations will stretch that far, perhaps R4 on LW but that won't cover Le Mans or much World Cup

You seem to be able to get Radio5 on AM a long way into France, surprisingly a better signal than I can get in most of Hampshire.

Is this as simple as tuning my iPhone App (TuneIn Radio) to the relevant Le Mans Radio frequency, bung some earphones on & hey presto?

What sort of data would this entail if used for a few hours I wonder?

Yes, but the mobile networks are likely to be congested so I doubt you can rely on this, plus it will kill your battery quite quickly.

Cant beat a cheap FM radio for this

RadioLeMans podcasts run at 50MB/hour. Live stream is the same.

I bought something like this about 3 years ago specifically for Le Mans.
So cheap, batteries last ages.

Job done, no worrying about mobile data, emptying iPhone batteries, congested networks etc.

You're right that an FM radio is the best solution, however I listened to the whole of the 6 hours of Silverstone over 3G and it used about 20% of my battery (iPhone 5S) and 50MB/hour of data.

FM radios will work anywhere as will AM ones. The only problem you will have is if you are using a "digital" AM tuner (PLL) where Europe uses a 9kHz step between stations whilst the Americas use 10kHz.
