Suggestions on a good camera bag please

Requirements:

Rucksack, ie. two straps over shoulders
Weather proof
Under £70-80

Must fit -
D7000 body with battery grip
Nikon 70-200 f2.8
x2 small prime lenses
x2 medium sized lenes

Would like to also fit in -
Sigma 70-300
Spare body

Seen a few that can strap a tripod to the side, that'd also be handy sometimes.

I'm needing it for Le Mans 24hrs as my current bag is falling to pieces but I dont mind spending a little as I intend to keep it for a good while and to many other motorsport events.
Something like this is what I'm after http://www.amazon.co.uk/Mantona-Rhodolit-Backpack-...

Cheers!

Keep an eye on ebay for a Lowepro Dryzone Rover.

I went for one because it has a proper rucksack harness, like a hiking rucksack, which if you're covering miles and wearing it for a long time is important. I did 62 miles walking around Berlin a couple of weeks back with it fully loaded and had no problem with it being comfortable. The bag is properly waterproof, not just weatherproof, which makes it beer proof, ideal for LM. It has a tripod mount on the front.

Otherwise the Tamrac Expeditions are very good, I have a huge 8X for if I want to carry all three camera systems, fully laden it weighs 42kg but once on your back is actually pretty comfortable and balanced. They do smaller versions.

I'm a fan of the FStop Gear range of camera bags, one of those would surely meet your requirements.

However, for Le Mans I'm just taking a very lightweight set up, 5D and 40mm pancake lens to capture the atmosphere, as photography options aren't great from the public areas.

Having done the car shots in previous years I'm travelling light this time too, 5D3 and 24-105, maybe the 135mm f2 and 1.4exii as it is a nice combination.

I've got a couple of Tamrac expedition rucksacks. The monumental 8X if I'm in the mood for a good workout but more often than not, I use the 5X. It's a good size, practical bag which can accommodate the essential stuff and a small laptop/ipad compartment too. Fortunately, they can normally be picked up second hand on eBay like this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Tamrac-expedition-5-Came...

I've been toying with what to take, I think I've decided on 5d3, sigma 35mm and canon 70-200.

In a lowepro slingshot.

If you must buy a branded camera bag rip the logo off or cover it up! It's stupid to advertise you're carrying expensive camera equipment around.

Interesting to see this thread.. I'm just wondering if I can justify getting a 70-200 2.8 for the same trip!

I could never justify it, but I still did it.

I wouldn't bother. It's a heavy lens to be carrying around all weekend and not really long enough.

It certainly can be long enough if you pick your spot. 70-200 on a 5D2, Tertre Rouge :-

Wow! - Is that from a regular viewing position too, i.e. not media?

I'm on crop too, and I could take a 1.4extender..

Yes, Tertre Rouge has one of very few spectator areas where you can see over the catch fence.

Yes, up the spectator banking on the inside of the track. As long as you're not a dwarf you can see over the fencing, if you are a dwarf get a friend to toss you up in the air biggrin

Canon 1.4 extender works very well with the 70-200mm F2.8, bugger all discernible loss of IQ.

I've used one since about 2005 and it's fantastic. I combine it with a 1.4x when I need a little more reach and the bright aperture makes it very handy when the light fades. I used to have the 100-400mm and I find this much more useable and alot sharper.

It is heavy compared to most lenses you can get but the quality is just top notch
