Builders recommendation

Hi,
Can anybody recommend a builder that is capable of building a large extension in north Leeds?
Most of the ones I contact don't inspire confidence as they don't even return calls or emails at the enquiry stage, so what are they gonna be like if there is a problem??

I had the same problem about two years ago. Shocking how many just don't seem to want the work. Best thing I can suggest is asking everyone you know, and perhaps putting something on one of those 'recommend a trader' sites. I had several contacts from that, one of whom made it as far as the final round (and who I wish we had chosen in the end, easy enough to say with hindsight).

I can tell you who to avoid, but I don't think he operates that far south. He built ours, then shut down (voluntary liquidation) and refused to come back and do any snags, and is now operating under a new name in the area south of us (Northallerton/Thirsk area).

I have had loads of building work done and can recommend an excellent firm. I have built a number of houses and they are the best.
Whats your budget? Whats the sqft? Have you drawings and got all your planning passed?

PauloV12V - We have planning permission and the architect is drawing everything up at the moment.
The extension is about 230sq metres plus into the loft; it's not a small job so you would think builders would be clamouring for it!
Any recommendations gratefully received (apart from the one Minemapper used!! )

I will talk you through them then give you the details of a similar job they have done for me. They have just finished a couple of houses in Linton. Family firm and the best Ihave used in 25 years in the trade.They are still working for me know on a barn conversion in Pannal.
