So my pal has cracked my heated s3 screen and I am after a replacement.
I am not prepared to pay Caterham prices at £414 as I have no intension of selling the car and I will crack it again in its life time I'm sure.

I can't find a single glass company around the north west that will supply me with some 4.4-5mm laminated glass.
" it's not fit for purpose and cracks to easy" I keep hearing as a reply.

I see it says the plain glass is race only and an mot failure on the Caterham site.
I don't under stand this as who would race a Caterham with out an aero screen?
All seems a bit of a con to me, it must still be laminated just with out the tint and heater no?
Looks like I will have to order the standard glass tomorrow from cc but was hoping to pick u a square metre so I could cut two and keep a spare.

I don't want to go aero and I can't claim on the insurance.

I'm not a member so can't post, i did go to one meet when I first got the car but tbh they were after me signing up there and then and I thought it was all a bit wrong. All though they were all nice people there were a few decades between us and I couldn't see me wanting to attend them all to often.

I'm happy here, with the wealth of info on piston heads and chatting to owners when I stumble across them out on the open road.

Fair enough, where abouts are you in Cheshire? Im in Altrincham and sound a little bit nearer in age to you than some caterham owners

The race screens for cars that run in the Academy, Roadsport, Classic Grads and (optionally) Super Grads. I think, in theory, you could keep your windscreen in Tracksport/Supersport if you really wanted too.

Invest £40 now and you might save double/triple that in no time at all...

Lack of heated screen, so lack of demisting feature would be the MOT failure. Could also MOT with an aero screen or just no screen?

There's a windscreen thread on Blatchat at the moment. Even as a non-member you can PM any of the posters by clicking the yellow envelope next to their name.

Re de mist don't recall demist ever being anMOT issue ,may be wrong butit's not been mentioned tested on any vehicle I have had or did test when on the register [some time ago for me testing ] may well be IVA though will stand correction if I'm wrong

You're probably very correct, it's just what I read. I'll stick by the safety standpoint though although you could manually clear it.
