Next job - valve clearances
Discussion
I've only done this with the cam chain off, so my experience is not so valuable. All I would say is, have the patience of a saint, and be prepared for several iterations. I sanded my shims by hand in front of the TV over a week or so (and then polished them to a perfect shine). It was definitely a learning experience. My handiwork was checked by Andy @ APM six months later and no corrections were needed, so I obviously did something right.

Thanks for this. Never knew this existed. It doesn't differentiate between 4.2/4.5 so I assume it's the same for both then. If anyone knows anything differentt please let me know....chibbard said:

The same for both to the best of my knowledge, though many experienced indies recommend opening the clearances to 10 thou inlet and 12 thou exhaust and setting the valve timing to equal lift on overlap.
I think this makes sense as the tightest inlet I had was in fact 8 thou. All the rest were more 10 to 12 thou so adjustments certainly not needed. On to the next job now.....Gassing Station | Cerbera | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
