Hi

I've had my car for 10 years and it's running very well but I| have a question about a minor change I've seen recently.

When on a long motorway run, my 4.0 has always run at about 70 on the temp gauge. In the winter it's usually a dash below and summer a dash above 70, but it's always been about 70 on a long run.

In the last couple of weeks I've noticed that the car runs at about 75 on a long run.

I've checked the coolant and that is fine. Fans are both working (kick in at 90) and I wondered if anyone else had this problem in the past and if I should be concerned?

Thanks

It might be a sign that the thermostat is about to give up - possibly not opening soon enough. Might be worth changing to be on the safe side.

Might be worth checking to see if there is any crud in the rad. Out side that is

Leaves etc can stop the air flow . The fins can turn to dust so reducing the cooling capacity if the rad is getting old. It happened to mine when I first got the car

General wear in the gauge is possible too. A couple of degrees is not a major worry IMHO, but 10C or more may indicate a problem. Mine gets to just over an indicated 100C before the fans kick in and all seems OK.

Thanks for all the replies. I'm going to check out all of those items in the next couple of weeks.
I think I need a new clutch anyway as mine has been slipping out of 5th gear

Doesn't sound like a clutch fault, slipping out of gear, although slipping would. I'm no expert though.
