How do I manually close a 993 roof?
Discussion
Typically, the roof on my 993 cab started playing silly buggers yesterday (see here: http://www.porscheclubgbforum.com/tm.asp?m=832997&... after not being used in a while. However, trying it today, after a slight false start, it now seems to work. I've cycled it back and forth about 8 or so times with no probs. Hopefully it was just a grouchy microswitch or something that has now righted itself.
BUT, in case it suddenly does decide to play silly buggers again, can someone tell me how to manually close the roof? Apparently its in the owners manual but I can't seem to find it anywhere (think I may have a Carrera manual as opposed to a Cabriolet one if that's possible)

These tops can be a real pain. A lot of owners leave them on manual operation to preserve the mechanical bits. There is a saying that suggests that every time you open a 993 cab roof, you should put £10 to one side!
Micro switch setup is critical. There are three main ones- two on the top of the windscreen frame( these allow your two latching motors to lock the hood down.)There is a travel limiter behind the trim cover on the drivers side. This stops the hood travel on the way down. You should be able to activate the latching motors in manual mode simply by closing the roof to screen frame and operating the roof switch.
Al this is controlled by an ECU buried high up in the near side footwell. This has its own problems. ( usually on the soldered joints).
There is loads of info on the various forums, so you should be able to do some homework on these sites.
Good luck.
