Anyone know Arnold Clark Ford Clydebank?
Discussion
Guys,
I'm in Belfast and I've spotted a car at the above dealer at a reasonable price (a Skoda). I know nothing about these guys and I'm obviously going to have to fly over and view the car.
Currently waiting on a call back from the dealer, however I was just wanting a heads up on these guys. (PM me if need be).
Also would like some advice how to get there from the airport? Is a taxi going to cost much/viable. I don't think it's that far. Been 12 years since I was in Glasgow.

http://www.arnoldclark.com/used-cars/skoda/yeti/2.... I take it is this Yeti you are looking at .
AC get mixed reviews not all good but they are the largest car dealership in the U-K so will get a lot of negative's I have a Yeti it is an july 11 plate 1.2 TSI 105bhp panoramic glass roof a bit underpowered and you have to use the gears a bit .The TDI is a better bet .The price seems not to bad I paid around the same for mine and is not 4x4 . There are loads on PH so compare prices .It is a few miles from the airport I guess a taxi would be around £20 If you are set on it get them to pick you up at the airport with the proviso if not bought they will take you back no questions asked .Depends when you plan to come over I may be able to help you out to take you there

Yes they do sell a lot of cars because folk dont realise there are other dealers out there or £xxx per month is not price of car
Knowing Arnold when you arrive car would have been sold but they do have another lower spec & dearer
I would not risk expense of coming over unless they can guarantee it would be there trouble is that would under mine your bargaining position

That's the car. It's £2k cheaper that one I'm looking at in Belfast and that's before a haggle on the price.
They have called me and are sending more pics. They have one in Ayr but it looks a bit rough from the pics.
Just priced the ferry and bus from Cairnryan. Drops off at Drumry roundabout????? Is that nearby. Can't really tell from Google maps?

Not sure where Drumry Roundabout is .Cairnryan is a fair distance from Glasgow City around a 90 min journey by bus Try and look at stock at Ingrams Skoda Ayr as they around 40 mins away from ferry port any idea time wise as to when you are thinking of coming
I'll check Ingrams..... Cheers. No idea when i'll come over as yet, though I have a feeling this will turn into a three day shopping trip when the missus finds out.
drumry roundabout is about a mile and a half from the dealer.
Arnold clark aren't that bad in fairness, if you want a normal run of the mill car at a reasonable price with a decent company backing it you could do a lot worse.
they are no worse or no better than any of the other large companies. and as long as your sure of what your buying and don't let them sucker you with the finance or extended warranties or usual dealer tricks you'll get a decent service.
travelling from cairnryan is a bit of a trek. 3 1/2 hours by bus, (its 2 hours by car) you could get a taxi from the ferry port to clydebank for about £90 if you shop about(that's my trade funnily enough) and if your stuck I could put you in touch with a couple of cabbies I know.
but shop about its not as if a yeti is a extremely rare car. theres 2x hendrys skoda in Glasgow and ingrams in ayr parks skoda in Hamilton etc etc and that's before you even leave main dealers.

Guys thanks so much...
Think I'm rushing into this. I'll start having a look at the dealers, make a list and come over maybe for a day or two with the missus. I've got until the middle of July to pick the right one.
I know the road to Glasgow very well as the FIL is from Girvan and I've spent many a day in Ayr.
Just spoke to the dealer @ AC and they won't move on price. So that might just rule that car out as there is no trade in and I would have been expecting a few quid off for that alone.
Dealer in Belfast has also just dropped a 1K off their price when I told him I was off to Scotland so I will have to weigh up travel costs/hassle.

Arnold are very successful at what they do which is selling cars.
People who don't know about cars come away thinking they have a good deal so they are happy.
If you do know about cars you can also get a good deal by just doing the sensible things like going in at end of month and knowing your budget.
I got a £500 difference reduced down to zero on my last car by going in on 28th of the month, telling them that if they agreed the price I would pay there and then with my switch card. They had initially said there was no movement etc.
They have cars, people will come in and buy these cars so with all respect to the OP, there is no point in one of their salesmen taking up time to try and coax someone over the telephone to come in and buy the car when the same time could be spent selling someone who is in the showroom already a car.
That's just the reality of where they are and what they do.
As with all dealers, the salesmen make their money through warranty plans, servicing plans etc.
But don't get me started on their servicing guys.......
