Essen MotorShow - My Ruf RT12 Pics
Discussion
Flew there on Friday for the day, here are some photos of the RT12, it's an awesome car.
Rear tyres are 345/25 on 20inch rims. Brakes are 380mm 8pot front and rear! Price starts at 195,000 euros plus taxes, for the 560bhp engine, they haven't finalised other prices, such as the 650bhp 3.8litre option.............

Guy.
I like the car better in your pics than in other photos I have seen.
A few questions....is the engine based on the new 997 unit? Or do they use the trusty old 996 Turbo motor with its strong bottom end? Surely it would be easier to drop a modified 996 Turbo engine in than to try to turbocharge a new 997 unit? And if they do use the newer engine, would that bother you, regardless of the famour Ruf warranty?

Agreed, great pics. Those intakes on the hips, you either love them or hate them. I know they're all about form relating to function but I do wish they'd been able to get something workable along the lines of the 993 Turbo S. BTW is that a small RUF badge offset to the rhs of the engine cover? What's wrong with symmetry?! Overall I suspect it would look much better in black metallic.
Sorry been busy today.
To answer the questions in short:
1. Engine is 996TT based. The 997 engine is nowhere near as strong, just like the 996 n/a engines. The 3.8l 650bhp engine is also 996TT based, but a 'special'.......
2. No it's not my car. Its great and I love it, but for £170k it's nearly twice the sale value of my car and has virtually performance i.e. same engine, same weight.
3. Show finished on Sunday.

Thanks Guy, I expected that would be the case.
So that's a definite NO to buying one? Or is it a case of never saying never?
