Alarm/immobiliser for 1990 Porsche 944
Discussion
Hi all
My old Porsche has the *factory fitted* (actually a third-party in the UK on import) immobiliser system ... and like an idiot I recently lost one of the small thingies which sits on the keyring which you use to enable you start the car - you push it into a hole on the steering column. Have read that these are £54 to replace so thinking I may replace the whole thing as it's now 25 years old and you never know if one night, miles from home, it'll decide not to work - plus I only have one of the thingies left now.
Being one of the last cars, mine has central locking, but not remote ... so am I right in thinking if I wanted it to work remotely I'd have to upgrade to an alarm/immobiliser and the immobiliser wouldn't be a separate thing to do once you're in the car? I suppose I could buy a separate remote locking kit AND a new immobiliser but maybe it's better to get the whole thing in one.
Any suggestions as to what an appropriate alarm/immo would be and likely cost including fitting? There's info on the net but I'm not up to speed as to what is out there ... and maybe whether anyone has done something similar to an older car ...
Cheers

The same setup as my 91 turbo, I'm not sure you can use a remote to unlock the car and disarm the original immobiliser at the same time if that's what you are asking ? Personally I quite like the old school way of unlocking/locking the car with the key.
